Leopoldo María Panero

Fernando Vacas interviews Leopoldo María Panero

Leopoldo María Panero (16 June 1948 – 5 March 2014) was a Spanish poet. Already back in 2011, Fernando Vacas invites Leopoldo María Panero to Cordoba, Spain, to talk about life, politics and all the topics that for many are taboos, but among them is the breeding ground for creation and experiences.

From that visit onward and after beginning a long-standing friendship, Leopoldo María Panero would return to Cordoba. This time, to participate again in the hands of Fernando Vacas in the 2012 Cosmopoetics contest, dedicated to the group of poets "Los Novísimos".

The group's characteristics, founded by Josep María Castellet, are:

  1. Absolute formal freedom.

  2. Automatic writing, and various techniques such as ellipsis, syncope and collage.

  3. Introduction of exotic elements and artifices.

  4. Influence from the mass media and cinema.

  5. Influence from popular culture and popular myths: music, mainstream cinema, comic strips.

Between one visit and another, this interview, based on the idea of Fernando Vacas, was conducted by Juanjo F. Palomo in the gardens of the Viana Palace. The interview has been divided into three fragments, each of 3:33.
