Fernando Vacas

Fernando Vacas was born in Cordoba, Spain, in April 1971 and since childhood has not stopped having an instrument and records in his hands.

From a flamenco family, Vacas soon becomes an expert in the elementary styles of flamenco, but against all odds, he opts for new musical genres in which the electric guitar and the alternative world are imposed as their own language.

In 1992 he forms Flow, seminal band of the alternative Spanish scene, and since then he has been chasing a musical career just as wide as eclectic. That's how he discovers Russian Red, becomes the soul of band Prin' La Lá and produces albums that range from Howe Gelb & A Band of Gypsies to Remedios Amaya, with whom he gets nominated in 2016 for the Latin Grammys as best flamenco album.

In the words of Tomás Fernando Flores, director of Radio3 RNE, "we are facing a true creator of the 21st century".

Faithful to his roots, but open to new trends, this unclassifiable musician has published a contemporary flamenco opera under the title of "A través de la luz" (Through the light), an album and a musical show that has cinematic colors and embraces poetry and image as a vital drive.

Spanish music producer Fernando Vacas has worked with worldwide hit Rosalía, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth, Howe Gelb of Giant Sand, John Parish, La Negra, Raimundo Amador, Lole Montoya, Niño de Elche, Maria de Medeiros and a long list of others, which makes him familiar with flamenco, alternative music, cinema soundtracks and all its fusions.

Recently, he has composed soundtracks for the movies 'Tu hijo' and 'Adiós'. The first was directed by Miguel Ángel Vivas, widely acclaimed for the TV series 'Money Heist' and the movies 'Extinction' and 'Kidnapped'. The latter is a creation of Paco Cabezas, known for his movies 'Tokarev' and 'Mr. Right' and the TV series 'Penny Dreadful' and 'The Alienist'. Both movies have been produced by Apache Films.

Fernando Vacas is the manager of record label eureka discos, eureka publishing and is in charge of the recording studio eureka.
