Flamenco and the wineries of Montilla

Fernando Vacas unites Flamenco and Montilla’s wine tradition

In 2018, Fernando Vacas directed a documentary about flamenco and the wineries of Montilla, a region south of his hometown Cordoba. The film counts on the collaboration of flamenco artists such as Ricardo Pachón and Gualberto García.

Deputy mayor of the Culture department Montilla, Conchi Espejo, pointed out that “Fernando Vacas is from Cordoba, but he is in love with Montilla, a city that he was first introduced to when he presented his flamenco opera. During the time spent, he got to know the wineries and now, with this project, he unites flamenco with the wine of Montilla.”

The Tourism department of Montilla presented the documentary in the 2018 edition of FITUR, the annual International Tourism Fair in Madrid, which is one of the most important tourism fairs on a worldwide scale. “From a cultural and tourism point of view, we understand that this documentary is of important value in order to attract more visitors to our region," explained the Deputy mayor.

"We had a deficit of multimedia material for the promotion of our city. 'Flamenco and the wineries of Montilla' allows us to tell a story and bring forward the true values of our region."

The wineries of Montilla did not hesitate to provide their facilities to shoot this documentary, which has been divided into three blocks and that was first shown in the Garnelo theater in Montilla.
